La Sportiva Launches New Equipment Line Headlined by Technical Mountain Packs

Built for rugged approaches, backcountry lines, and year-round use

BOULDER, Colo. (June 17, 2025) – La Sportiva, makers of the world’s finest mountain gear, today announced its Spring 2026 equipment collection. Anchored by a brand new line of high-performance packs, the collection also includes modular travel duffels and durable chalk bags, each piece designed to meet the demands of serious mountain athletes. From backcountry ski descents and fast alpine traverses to day hikes and big wall adventures, the new line reflects La Sportiva’s commitment to innovation, quality, and performance-driven design.

The centerpiece of the collection is the Challenger 28, a modular, technical pack designed for ski mountaineering, alpine climbing, and mixed multi-sport missions. A dual-compartment design with roll-top and drawstring closures offers secure, expandable storage, while weather-resistant side zips and a dedicated compartment for crampons and tools keep gear accessible and protected. At just 780 grams stripped and 1200 grams fully fitted, this high-performance pack balances ultralight performance with extreme durability. 

The Challenger is constructed with Ultra400X and Ultra200X fabrics from the Challenge ULTRA™ line, an advanced UHMWPE composite that’s significantly lighter and more abrasion-resistant than comparable materials. This fabric is fully waterproof, rated to 200 PSI, and built to perform in both extreme cold and tropical heat. Designed for versatility, the pack utilizes a fully modular system, which includes removable ski straps, ice tool retainers, rope carry points, and compression cord, allowing athletes to build the pack up or pare it down depending on the day’s objective. The 28L Challenger is expandable to 32L and retails for $349.

The Granite 32 is a durable, all-season pack built for alpine objectives where weight, weather resistance, and versatility matter. The body is made from a recycled 210D Robic® nylon reinforced with a UHMWPE X-grid for increased strength, while the base is constructed from recycled 420D Oxford fabric with a Carbonite coating for added abrasion protection. A drawstring top closure and side zipper allow for flexible access, and the thermoformed back panel includes a removable support insert to tune structure depending on load. Modular compression cords, ski carry compatibility, and removable ice tool holders make it the perfect pack for alpine routes, day trips, and ski mountaineering objectives. The $179 pack weighs in at 700g stripped and 1070g fully fitted. 

Designed for quick-moving days in the mountains, the $119 Granite 22 delivers a weather-resistant, durable build in a streamlined format. With a total weight of 510g, this pack offers rope-carry capability, modular compression, and side-zip access in a clean, structured profile. Ideal for single-pitch climbs, alpine scrambles, and fast linkups, it’s a go-to choice for minimalist mountain travel.

The collection also includes the Nomad Duffel Series, designed for life on the move. Available in 40L and 70L capacities, these travel-ready duffels feature a recycled 630D Robic® nylon shell with a Carbonite coating and UTS backing for added structure and abrasion resistance. Each size includes stowable backpack straps, four grab handles, internal mesh organization, and a reusable gear bag for shoes or dirty clothes. The 40L retails for $149, with the larger 70L priced at $169.

La Sportiva’s new chalk bags round out the line with durable builds and climbing-specific features. The $39 Challenger Chalk Bag is the last chalk bag you’ll ever need. It uses Ultra 200X fabric for lightweight durability and features a structured base, zippered pocket, drawstring closure, and brush loop. The $29 Granite Chalk Bag Pro and $25 Granite Chalk Bag utilize recycled Robic® nylon and low-profile designs ideal for indoor or outdoor use.
